Turtle release tour 2013

Turtle release tour 2013

The Territory Wildlife Park’s first flatback turtle release is scheduled for Saturday 25 May 2013. You can be part of this unique event, as Sea Darwin is offering two seats to the person who is successful in naming the flatback. Simply click on the Sea Darwin facebook page link and you can enter the competition being coordinated by the Territory Wildlife Park.

The little turtle involved was rescued as an injured hatchling from Bare Sand Island last nesting season. He/she has been nurtured back to full health in the world class aquarium at the Wildlife Park, and is now ready for release back into the ocean. The Territory Wildlife Park has been working with researchers at Charles Darwin University, and the little turtle will be released with a fitted tracking advice which will provide valuable information about the habits of the flatback species. Sea Darwin is proud to support this event.
