Australia’s Frontline: WWll Bombing of Darwin tour is a half day experience that takes in significant war history sites on land and then the harbour, or you can choose to cruise only to hear the stories of the Darwin’s front line activity, starting with the WWII history and the Bombing of Darwin and tracing developments up to the modern day. On this Bombing of Darwin tour you will hear the complete story of as you visit Darwin’s most famous historical sites by air-conditioned vehicle. Visit the sites that were hit by the Japanese air raids. Head out to Charles Darwin National Park to see bunkers and other WWII relics. Visit the Catalina Flying Boat Base, the Defence of Darwin museum and the East Point Military precinct. The WWII journey is complete with the one hour cruise on Darwin Harbour to visit the site of the wreck of the USS Peary, HMAS Coonawarra Navy base and the see the gun emplacements from the water
The Bombing of Darwin tour sea component:
The cruise departs Stokes Hill Wharf at 1100 am and covers the historic Stokes Hill and Fort Hill wharf areas. the Pearling Luggers, wreck sites of the SS Neptuna and USS Peary, the old flying boat base at Doctors Gully and HMAS Coonawarra before arriving at Cullen Bay..
Operates: April to September – daily except Monday and Thursday; October to March – Wednesday and Saturday. Year round group departures any day by prior arrangement.
