Let's go on a chestnut rail expedition

In collaboration with Experience The Wild, the Top End’s specialists in bird and nature watching tours, Sea Darwin is offering a very special sunrise experience on Friday 23 October 2015. Getting up with the birds the Snubfin will be leaving Stokes Hill Wharf at 0630 on a Chestnut Rail expedition. Led by Sea Darwin’s Jim Smith and Mike Jarvis, who are both accredited guides with a wealth of knowledge on our local environment, birdlife, wildlife and habitat, this cruise is expected to last for 90 minutes, returning to Stokes Hill at 0800 hours at a cost of only $40.

For those who have a keen interest in our local birds and who have more time available, the cruise can be combined with Experience the Wild’s half day Chestnut Rail Experience (Half Day) @ $160, inclusive of boat cruise.

While we will specifically seek out the elusive and rare Chestnut Rail, we expect that our destination at that serene time of the morning will provide sightings of many other species.

Bookings for the half day Darwin Bird Watching and Chestnut Rail Expedition can be made via email or phone to:
