"The twilight cruise was a beautiful way to end our day in Darwin. It was well organised and informative, with nature throwing in a pod of frolicking dolphins, sea eagles and a gorgeous sunset. The boat was clean and comfortable and the crew very friendly. We would definitely do it again."

About the tour Darwin Sundowner Cruise + Gin Tasting

Do you love that end of day feeling?

Do you love that end of day feeling?

Just add water + a tasty little sundowner for your tropical light, let the evening beGIN experience.

Whether it’s Friday night drinks, a special date night or a time when you just want to wind down from the excitement of the day, this cruise is a magical way to beGIN your evening in Darwin. This short one hour sunset soiree combines the setting of the tropical sun with the instant relaxation that comes with a sundowner.

With a boutique Top End gin in your hand, you will unwind as a purr of the motors take you past a coastline holding secrets of times gone by to find a saltwater spot where you will see the dazzling rays of the sun as it dips to the horizon. Then, with ice cubes clinking in a glistening glass reflecting the colour palette of the sunset, a sense of relaxation will take over as Darwin Harbour unfolds before you.

The Ritual of A Sundowner

The Ritual of A Sundowner

This cruise takes in the ritual of a sundowner - a drinking tradition that originated during British colonial rule, marking the transition from day to evening. The drink of choice was, and remains, gin and tonic. This relaxing little drink was in fact born out of necessity.  In the early days it was discovered that quinine, an extract from the South American cinchona tree, was effective in treating and preventing malaria. And so you have it, a G & T is not only a nice way to end the day, but it's also practical!

On this cruise you’ll taste some flavoursome saltie, citrusy gin; you’ll experience the warm tropical breeze and you’ll embrace the evening with smells of saltwater and the tousling of hair on your face. What a wonderful aperitif before stepping ashore where your evening continues. Perhaps relaxed seafood flavours on Stokes Hill Wharf, or maybe a scrumptious dinner and gin cocktail at any one of the myriad of Darwin Waterfront Restaurants. The choice is yours!

And Then The Sunset!

And Then The Sunset!

This one hour cruise is for those with a love of doing different. As you settle into your seat and make yourself comfortable with your sundowner in hand, your crew will take you on a Darwin Harbour journey to take in that nightly ritual of the setting of the tropical sun.  Enroute, you will cruise slowly past the Darwin seascape that hold secrets of years gone by.  If you're sipping on a Green Ant gin, we'll ply the waters past Lamaroo Beach, which holds a special place in the hear of Darwin's Traditional Owners, the Larrakia, who make a meal of green ants whenever they can.   Or you lips and mind might turn to a Naked Gunner, who  shot down Japanese aircraft as Darwin was being bombed.  And out on the harbour proper,  with as the tropical sun dips below the horizon, the Saltie Gin comes into its own with stories of crocodiles and Makassan Traders.  And then, with twilight taking hold, we'll journey to the back of the harbour to a thriving landscape of trees in the sea, where birds find sanctuary at the end of the day, and where natures embrace has a backdrop of Darwin city reflecting twilight’s mood.

Tropical Light Sundowner Cruise

A very professional friendly operation. Beautifully maintained vessels. Awesome sunset. Awesome gin cruise. Recommend the Saltie Gin. The sunset on the harbour then a dash up "the creek" to watch the changing colours over the mangroves, followed by a high speed "sprint" then dinner at Chows the best experience, best food and best value in Darwin.
